Well, as you may know, I've been trying to develop into a knifemaker and sheathmaker in my "spare" time (read, the wee hours of the morning).
I just finished my second knife this week and last night made a sheath for it with beaver tail inlay.
Here's some pics.
(I don't know why they go all out of sequence like this but anyway...)
edit: The other sheath pics didn't show the colouring properly.

stuart this is fantastic! how log does it take to do this? are you selling it? what would a knife like this go for? Matt loves it he thinks its a sword.
Thanks. Hard to say how long this took. I'd think it was about 40'ish hours of work but that was in part due to errors and fixing things. As it's my second knife, my 3rd will go faster and the 4th faster after that...
I am sending it to a collector in the US for an opinion and possibly selling both it and my first knife to him.
Cost is tough to gauge at this point. I certainly would not be making more than a couple bucks an hour at this point but I'm still learning.
Glad Matthew likes it. Maybe I'll make him a real sword some day.

Knowing nothing about knives, it looks very impressive to me. Even details like how the knife fits in the sheath - there is a perfect line of space between the two. I love the detail on the sheath and the handle on the knife.
Yea, gorgeous blade, sheath, and hilt!
Love the sig, too. :D
If Matt is impressed, tell him we saw the same knives at the dollar store for a buck. They are really cool but they don't last long.(just kidding) A really impressive piece of work! Congratulations..
If you would like Catherine and I will take an original to China and have them mass produced at the same hourly wage it takes you to make one.
Love you bro!
Stuart, we are very glad that you posted the rest of the family needs to see how talented you are and how artistic. Your work is awesome and I bet you could get a hefty price for that knife and sheath.
we love you Stuart Mum& Dad
Awesome craftmanship!
Let me know how much that guy offers you - I'll outbid him.
